Financial Pressures Facing Surgeons: ACS Response

Every day, surgeons deal with a multitude of financial and practice pressures that complicate the clinical and business practice of surgery. These pressures include prior authorization, insurance contracts and network restrictions, declining Medicare and Medicaid payments, administrative burdens from federal and state government regulations, and others. The American College of Surgeons (ACS) Division of Advocacy and Health Policy team advocates for surgeons at the federal and state level to address these significant issues and will discuss efforts to ease these pressures.

To learn more about the College’s efforts, stop by the ACS Theatre in ACS Central, 1:15−2:15 pm Monday, Moscone Center South, Halls ABC. Kristin McDonald, Manager, Legislative and Political Affairs, will discuss the College’s federal legislative advocacy. Jon Sutton, MBA, Manager, State Affairs, will discuss the College’s state legislative advocacy, and Vinita Ollapally, JD, Manager, Regulatory Affairs, will discuss the College’s administrative and regulatory advocacy.
