Clinical Congress attendees can sample the cuisine and culture of San Diego—and maybe even catch a glimpse of some famous faces—at this year’s Taste of the City.
Meeting participants and their families are invited to this complimentary event to close out their Clinical Congress 2022 experience tonight at the Marriott Marina Terrace. Food, drinks, entertainment, and camaraderie are on the menu 5:30–7:30 pm, to celebrate the conclusion of the College’s first in-person meeting in 3 years.
The characteristic décor and savory and sweet flavors of four featured communities will highlight the event.
- San Diego Coastal — With 70 miles of coastline, San Diego is full of distinct beach communities. Beautiful seaside venues offer unique flavors and “SoCal” experiences from Coronado to La Jolla to Mission Bay and beyond.
- Military — San Diego is home to thousands of active-duty and retired military personnel. The US Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard all have bases here. Naval Base San Diego is the country’s largest naval base on the West Coast.
- Gaslamp — Located in downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp Quarter is known for its eclectic mix of dining and entertainment, as well as its Victorian architecture.
- Little Italy — San Diego boasts the largest “Little Italy” in the United States. Within its 48 downtown blocks are the largest farmers’ market in San Diego County and the oldest Bar in the city, Waterfront Bar & Grill.
Heavy hors d’oeuvres and desserts, including vegan and gluten-free options, will be served at stations throughout the outdoor terrace alongside live entertainment for all ages.
Look into the future with a fortuneteller, join the stilt walker in a parade, have your likeness drawn by a caricature artist, or sit back and listen to the band play while you watch the antics of a juggler or an entertainer on roller skates. The band will treat the crowd to a selection of tunes from 1950s classics to modern hits.
Attendees also will have the opportunity to pay tribute to Past-Executive Director David B. Hoyt, MD, FACS, MAMSE.
Registration is not required for Taste of the City, and casual dress is encouraged.
